I’ve tried several different music streaming services, yet I always come back to Spotify. The recommendation algorithm is hard to beat, with the ability to continue finding relevant music after a song or playlist is over. The algorithm knows you so well, in fact, that you’ll probably find the results of Spotify’s new “My Spotify” campaign eerily accurate.



Spotify has announced a new initiative, ‘My Spotify,’ aimed at highlighting the unique ways its 615 million-plus subscribers listen to music. The campaign will initially roll out in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Over the coming weeks, Spotify users in these countries will see personalized messages and home page banners showcasing their individual listening habits. The messages will also encourage users to explore personalized features exclusive to Spotify, such as daylist, DJ, Blend, Daily Mix, and the “Made For You” hub.

It’s a bit of an interesting change of pace. Usually, the most we usually get is the yearly “Wrapped” by the end of the year, showcasing your music listening habits throughout the year. You can think of this as a sort of mid-year Wrapped, telling you how your listening habits have been lately. It will also point you at recommendations based on that data. This isn’t a groundbreaking change, or likely to have the same popularity among friends and social media as the yearly Wrapped summaries, but it’s a fun way to put numbers on your Spotify usage without waiting until Decem.


Marc Hazan, Spotify’s VP of Marketing and Partnerships, said that “Spotify’s world-class personalization is at the heart of this campaign, celebrating the unique relationship between each listener and their Spotify,” going on to add that “our goal is to capture those hyper-personal moments that occur when fans use Spotify. With our products and features, we strive to connect fans with the audio they love in a way that can’t be found anywhere else.”

The campaign will be rolling out over the course of the next few weeks, so make sure to keep an eye (and keep your app updated) if you want to give it a spin.
