Remember the late 2000s and early 2010s where it looked like the next big advancement, as far as TVs went, was 3D? A lot of TVs started coming out with 3D support, letting you have a sense of depth to what you saw on your screen. All TV manufacturers tried really hard to get 3D TVs to stick, but this effort was ultimately futile, as 3D all but faded away from TVs over the course of the next few years. Still, have you ever wanted to check out a 3D monitor that brings you to those days of old? Acer just launched one, and it looks really cool.
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 was announced earlier today, as a glasses-free stereoscopic 3D display designed for creators and developers. This device offers an immersive 3D canvas without the need for specialized glasses or accessories. Powered by SpatialLabs’s stereoscopic 3D solution, the display features a 27-inch 4K panel and is complimented by the Acer Immerse Audio system to fulfill all your audio needs. For its 3D effect, the monitor’s 3D display includes an eye-tracking module for real-time user tracking, allowing crystal-clear 3D visuals. The Acer Immerse Audio system, on the other hand, enhances your sound using AI, creating spatial audio through upward-facing speakers.
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 also comes with the SpatialLabs Experience Center Pro, offering ready-to-use applications like SpatialLabs Model Viewer and design software add-ons to enhance workflow efficiency. The device is also compatible with popular rendering engines like Unreal and Unity, making it accessible to developers across various industries. Additionally, it supports VR and XR developers through the Acer Steam VR bridge, transforming their creations into high-resolution, glasses-free 3D visuals.
In case you haven’t noticed, this isn’t really a product catered towards the average person. Rather, this is something Acer wants to put in the hands of game developers and Hollywood special effect artists, as it’s something that can really improve their workflow. Nonetheless, it makes us excited for whether we could ever see a consumer 3D monitor with similar technologies to this, and whether it would be worth it to check it out at all. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C, DP 2.0, and dual USB Type-A ports.
The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro 27 will be showcased at the Immerse Global Summit in Orlando, Florida. As far as pricing and availability go, we have no clue, but we can almost guarantee that this will not be cheap.
